Collaboration
between the Connecticut Humanities Council and the Community Foundation
of the Tri-County Area has resulted in a very exciting opportunity
for organizations that offer cultural programs in Northeastern Connecticut.
The Cultural Heritage Program encourages and supports the sharing of
the rich heritage of eastern Connecticut towns served by the Community
Foundation. The program’s grant making will consist of approximately
$10,000 awarded to museums and other heritage organizations with educational
projects that broaden public appreciation for eastern Connecticut’s
rich history, values, and traditions; including the exploration of
its racial, ethnic, and cultural diversity and the promotion of the
area’s history as a significant resource for the tourism industry.
“The Humanities Council is delighted to add the Community
Foundation of the Tri-County Area to the list of community foundations
with whom
we have joint granting relationships. These collaborations have proved
remarkably beneficial to both parties. The Council’s work benefits
enormously from the sophisticated understanding that organizations
like the Community Foundation of the Tri-County Area have of the needs
and organizations in their area. And, our community foundation collaborators
profit from our long grant-making track record in heritage funding
and from, obviously, the financial contributions we make to the process.
The Community Foundation has a splendid reputation for its work in
eastern Connecticut and we’re honored to be in association with
them.” Bruce Frasier, Connecticut Humanities Council
