The Community Foundation is a public charity that works to improve the quality of life in eastern and northeastern Connecticut by supporting a variety of projects that strengthen individuals and families, promote diversity, improve neighborhoods, and enhance communities. Gifts flow through the Community Foundation and directly benefit people in our communities.

CF future womanThe Community Foundation invests collectively money donated from different sources and uses the earnings from these Discretionary Funds to make grants to nonprofit organizations that improve the lives of people in its geographical service area.

Additionally, the Community Foundation manages and administers Donor Funds established by individuals, families, businesses, and organizations with a charitable intent.

The Community Foundation may be directed to use the earnings from these funds for grants to specific organizations or to organizations that work in a certain area of service, such as youth programs, elderly programs, art, or cultural programs. Restricted and designated donor funds are allocated in accordance with the donor’s stipulations.
